New Product Announcement: LTCC Multilayer Substrates (NL-Ag8)

The Functional Ceramics Product Division has introduced LTCC Multilayer Substrates (NL-Ag8) to its product lineup.
NL-Ag8 is a next-generation LTCC substrate material that offers ultra-low transmission loss at frequencies up to 100 GHz together with excellent matching of the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE).
Features
- The glass-free base material developed with proprietary synthetic raw materials and solid-state sintering technology, delivers highly stable ultra-low-loss performance up to 100 GHz
- The optimized coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is 10 × 10⁻⁶/K which improves thermal matching with next-generation semiconductor chips and resin materials
- With a high flexural strength of 370 MPa (approximately 1.5 times higher than conventional materials), this new material allows for both thinner and more robust packages
- The material allows for hermetic cavity structures that protect internal components from harsh operating environments
- Designed to help reduce environmental impact
Development Story
NL-Ag8 is manufactured entirely in-house, from raw material synthesis through sintering, enabling strict quality control and consistent product reliability.
Building on more than 30 years of ceramic manufacturing expertise, NIKKO has pursued the development of glass-free LTCC substrates for over a decade. After evaluating more than 1,000 material compositions, the company established its proprietary synthetic raw materials and solid-state sintering technology, resulting in the commercialization of NL-Ag8.
NL-Ag8 is designed for advanced applications, including AI data centers, 5G/6G communications, automotive electronics, medical devices, IoT equipment, space satelites and aerospace
