NIKKO HISTORY

  • 1908

    Founded in Kanazawa City under the name "Japan Ironstone Inc." by the former feudal lord Maeda clan and other local influential persons.

  • 1950

    In accordance with post WWII cabinet orders, the former company is liquidated, and NIKKO CERAMICS Co, Ltd. is founded.

  • 1961

    A ceramic factory is built in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture where the company's current headquarters now resides. Technology to process FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) is developed and "synthetic resin bathtubs" are productized.

  • 1966

    A factory specializing in FRP is built in Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture, and the company launches a full-scale expansion into the FRP housing and facility equipment field.

  • 1970

    Enters the residential-use septic tank market.

  • 1974

    Expands into the water treatment plant equipment field. Receives orders for combined treatment plants.

  • 1976

    Signs an export contract for the first tableware manufacturing plant targeted towards Algeria. Signs an export contract for the second plant the following year in 1977.

  • 1978

    Begins manufacturing of bone china.

  • 1983

    To celebrate 75 years of business, modifies the firm name to the current name of "NIKKO COMPANY" and designs a corporate logo.

  • 1987

    Enters the electronic ceramics industry.

  • 1989

    Stocks are listed in the Nagoya Stock Exchange 2nd Section.

  • 1990

    Begins sales of prefabricated bathrooms for residential use.

  • 2008

    Celebrates 100 years of business and designs a new corporate logo. Acquires ISO 14001 certification.

  • 2013

    Shifts to a dual-headquarter structure with headquarters in Ishikawa and Tokyo.

  • 2015

    The Housing and Facility Environmental Equipment Division is divided into the Water Creation Division, Environmental Plant Division, and BAINCOUTURE Division.
