Nitrogen & Phosphorus Removal is Possible

Through the adoption of membrane, high concentration activated sludge processing becomes possible, and not only BOD/COD but also nitrogen can be treated at a higher grade. In addition, just by adding flocculant to the aeration chamber, phosphorous removal is simplified. High performance nitrogen and phosphorous removal contributes to the prevention of eutrophication of oceans, rivers and wetlands.

Clear Treated Water with no SS

Only objects that pass through the small holes (0.0004mm) in the membrane are discharged, thus clean treated water with no SS can be obtained. Bacteria also does not pass through, meaning the treated water can be reused as greywater without the need for an advanced treatment facility.

Realization of a Compact, Space-Saving Design

High concentration activated sludge processing allows a decrease in capacity of the aeration chamber, and removes the need for a settling chamber. Also, in some cases, a built-in raw water pump chamber can be implemented. Thanks to these improvements, when compared to traditional Johkasou, a highly compact, space-saving design has been realized.
